Learning English in the classroom is useful and necessary. The classroom is where we learn our grammar and pronunciation. But to really learn a language you need to practise. And not in front of a mirror with your book. You need to meet people and speak English together. Doing something together while using English is even better. So, this Friday, if you are not busy, let's meet to take photographs around the school. If you are interested, send me an email or reply to this post.
I wanted to get out of the apartment today so I took my camera and went for a walk to Anmok. Here are a few of the photos I took. I want to go back later when the light is better. In the meantime, enjoy . . . . .
I really like film photography but sometimes it is fun to take a walk with my digital camera for practice. I read that it is going to rain until Wednesday so this morning I ran out to take some photographs of my neighbourhood. I did not use a tripod and I had to use a high ISO (higher ISO = lower quality) because it was a little dark. Please remember these are practice photos when you look at them.
I met a couple of people while taking pictures. One old man asked me what I was photographing and explained that a new road is going to be built for fire safety. Another old man saw me and spoke to me in English. I wonder where he learned. His grammar was perfect.
Near 고성 in Gangwon Province is a village called Wanggok Village. It is a traditional Korean village ans is interesting because it combines both northern and southern styles of housing. I went there a couple of months ago and took some photographs. I plan to go there again soon.
I am including a few of the photographs I took. You may notice some strange lines in the photos. The CF card I used when scanning the film had some problems so the digital files were damaged. That's okay because I still have the film.
This afternoon I went to 오죽헌 with a friend to take photographs. I brought my medium format camera but it was hot so I just used my compact camera. My friend and I talked a lot (well, he talked and I listened) so I didn't take many photographs. I did get one interesting photo:
They really know how to get through a hot summer afternoon.
Well, it wasn't much of a trip because my apartment is quite close to Anmok. I spent a couple of hours this afternoon riding bicycle and taking photographs. I didn't get any spectacular photos but it was good practice.
